Job Description:

We’re one of the world’s largest providers of transportation and logistics services. Our customers range from small and mid-sized companies up to global enterprises.  Our Global Logistics and Distribution business unit provides comprehensive logistics services and warehousing solutions utilizing a global network of distribution centers, innovative technology and supply chain expertise to manage the flow of goods from receiving to storage and order processing to shipment.

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for the daily performance of assigned outsource labor and vendors to ensure service is provided to UPS Mail Innovations (MI) customers. Theyregulate the transfer of freight in and out of facilities. This position selects vendors, negotiates rates, and plans transportation routes to meet customer needs and control costs. They provide direction to outsourced labor.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement local transportation network ensuring the efficient and timely movement of product and other materials to/from customers, UPS-MI and destination USPS facilities.

  • Establish and maintain processes to track and document product movements into destination USPS facilities.  Process to include documentation of receipt of mail at destination USPS facilities on agreed schedule with outside service providers and/or via UPS-MI leased vehicles.

  • Develop transportation schedules for pick-up of product at customer facilities and monitor adherence to schedules by transportation service providers and/or UPS-MI dedicated network.

  • Negotiate most favorable rates with transportation service providers consistent with service needs and UPS-MI operations schedules.

  • Track and report costs and audit invoices from transportation service providers to ensure accuracy in costs paid for outside transportation services.

  • Maintain budgeted transportation costs on a per piece and per pound basis.

  • Respond to customer requests for non-scheduled transportation services consistent with established operating procedures.

  • Monitor movement of product and other materials between UPS-MI Regional Processing Facilities.  Notify destination facilities of incoming shipments and ensure receipt.

  • Ensure compliance of all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules and regulations as they pertain to UPS-MI.

  • Ensure compliance of all UPS-MI established operating procedures.

  • Train assigned on-site contract staff in proper preparation of materials for movement.

  • Assure that all supplies needed for movement of product and other materials are on-hand and available at all times.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all internal systems, procedures, customer data, and personnel information.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or International equivalent - Preferred

  • Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate yourself –Required

Pay Range:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $65.100,00/year to $105.840,00/year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to, market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and education/training and a candidate’s work experience. Hired applicants are offered annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs, subject to applicable eligibility requirements. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
