Job Description:

Air Cargo & Gateway Specialist

The Air Cargo Systems Support Specialist is responsible for development, monitoring, and maintenance of various departmental applications, databases, queries, reports, and presentations. He/She displays excellent oral and written communication skills (English and Spanish) , programming skills (e.g.,Structured Query Language (SQL), ColdFusion, JavaScript, Visual Basic, etc.), and the Microsoft (MS) Office suite of products. This position maintains a high level of responsibility as the results of his/her actions and decisions have an impact on the services and finances of the organization. Must be available to work weekends and evenings.

The main responsibility of the Air Cargo & Gateway Specialist is to oversee all the processes related to the import / export operations, including Customs systems (local and international Customs) verifying the process is in compliance with regulatory agencies (both, local and international agencies).  Finally, responsibilities in the Gateway operation as Load Planner, Load Supervisor.

  • Oversees the different part of the import / export operations, including the preparation of Air Cargo and Small Packages documentation (ex, manifests), sending data information to Customs (thru different systems), and the Supervise the review of the condition of import cargo. Must be trained as Air Dangerous Goods Acceptance Auditor.
  • Ensure all local agencies and international agencies (US Customs and Borders Protection, FAA, TSA, IATA, etc.) regulatory requirements are meet prior departures of flights. Responsible by Small Package for Imports – Exports – Transits / Common Carrier.
  • To resolve import discrepancies with the customers. Assist to Customs, Airport authority (Air Cargo committee) meetings on a regular basis. To ensure all information sent thru systems to Customs and others are properly followed (including AAMS, IDIS, MUISCA, ACAS, etc.).
  • Review the operational requirements with Air Cargo Vendor and security team in order to keep expenses controlled from the Security Perspective Verify the corrective action plans of the audits are properly followed.
  • Coordinate the PCM with Cargo Operation according to flights planned with Air Cargo Vendor Participate in regular conference calls.
  • To perform import / export department duties when required. Verify all the import / export department personnel are properly trained and certified to perform their required functions.
  • Providing professional customer support to each internal and external customer. Active role in Gateway as Load Planner Active Role in Gateway as Load Supervisor Other activities related to the position.
