Job Description

The Systems Director is responsible for the overall performance of the team, defining goals and developing strategies to achieve operational and financial directives. The Systems Directors drive cross functional collaboration to align processes, developing timely solutions for conveyance systems, control logic and reporting. The Director role is responsible for the development of their management teams to drive accurate and consistent project deliverables. They collaborate with material handling vendors to innovate components for a faster, cost-effective integration within the project. Ability to distinguish between “big picture” concepts and detailed facts, while ensuring tasks are completed accurately and with appropriate level of detail to impact end goals.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Project Management: Develops, manages, and executes project management objectives for multiple projects of varying scope and duration.
  • Training and Development:  Daily interaction with their team members to ensure each person is knowledgeable to accomplish their assigned task; up to date on compliance training, emerging technology, process changes and software usage.
  • Presentation Skills: Responsible for presenting projects across all phases of development to Senior management, Staff, and cross functional groups.
  • Functional Support: Responsible for supporting the Region and District teams with the development and installation of conveyor projects, reviewing designs and estimates, providing guidance as needed.
  • Business, Financial, and Industry Knowledge: Ability to understand financial impacts of both propose changes and cost of deferring projects; demonstrates a high-level understanding of industry and financial trends impacting UPS and/or customers’ organizations.
  • Estimation and Forecasting Knowledge: Utilizes experience, facts, research, and perspectives to create accurate estimates; research trends and conditions used to make projections.
  • Vendor/Supplier Management: Demonstrates a broad understanding of UPS and vendor business needs and goals; reviews and recommends appropriate vendors based on business needs to internal stakeholders; Coordinates with Procurement and Contracts to develop vendor contracts or agreements; communicates expectations to vendors to ensure scope and schedule are obtained.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communications, and interpersonal skills.

Specific Software/Application experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, and Outlook)- Required
  • AutoCAD, Architecture, Inventor with Factory Design Utilities, Navisworks Manage and Docs. SolidWorks experience- Preferred
